Vehicle compliance for taxi and private-hire operations
Licensed taxi and private-hire operators must maintain vehicle compliance continuously as a condition of their licence. Velocerta helps operators and licensing authorities manage compliance monitoring, alerts and case workflows through a structured, auditable platform.
Understanding vehicle compliance monitoring
Velocerta supports scheduled compliance checks via authorised data providers. DVLA vehicle identity and tax data and DVSA MOT history are available. Insurance monitoring requires a separate approved provider connection.
Where an insurance provider connection is established, checking whether a vehicle's registration appears on a provider's database can give an early indication of potential compliance issues, but results must always be interpreted with care.
Velocerta is designed with this limitation clearly understood. The platform surfaces alerts and facilitates human review; it does not make compliance determinations automatically.
How Velocerta supports taxi and PHV compliance
Fleet-wide monitoring
All licensed vehicles monitored on a schedule, you are alerted to meaningful status changes rather than having to check each vehicle manually.
Immediate alert notification
When a meaningful change is detected for a vehicle, the responsible team member is notified through configured notification channels according to the alert and worker schedule.
Structured investigation workflow
Alerts are reviewed by authorised staff. Where further investigation is needed, a compliance case is opened with a full record of evidence, communications and decisions.
Audit-ready case history
Every compliance case is documented with a complete history, suitable for use in regulatory review, licensing hearings or internal governance.
Human-authorised decisions only
The platform surfaces alerts, it never suspends a vehicle or licence on its own. All enforcement decisions are made by authorised human users after proper review.
Provider-independent architecture
Velocerta is designed to connect with multiple data providers. The platform is not tied to a single source, and results from different providers can be recorded side by side.
For operators and licensing authorities
Velocerta can be used by the licensing authority to monitor compliance across all licensed vehicles in their district, or by operators to monitor their own fleet and demonstrate ongoing compliance to the authority.
The platform supports both use cases and can be configured to reflect the responsibilities and access requirements of each organisation type.
